Quality check for breast milk !

Kozhikkode,Aug 17: Is there anything purer than breast milk?, mothers may ask. But a group of young doctors here argue that this may not be true in all cases and breast milk needs to be analysed to ensure the health of infants.
An exclusive research institute-cum-laboratory for conducting studies in breast milk set up by them was inaugurated by Mayor M..Bhaskaran here on Wednesday.Named Sub-Han Breast milk Institute and laboratory.this research centre is the first of its kind in state.
“Health care workers all over the world had expressed their concern over the deficiencies found in breast milk years back. Breast milk will become inferior in quality if the mother is infected with certain disease or is suffering from malnutrition”,says Dr.Shafi abdulla zuhoori,who is one of the five directors of the institute.
Researches in breast milk analysis are backed by paediatricians too since it helps them recognize the cause for certail illness in infants . “we are here to technically analyse contents of breast milk as required by the pediatricians .they can, in turn, prescribe the required medicine or food for mothers according to what steam of medicine they practice”.
This institute is equipped with a ‘Restilizer to carry out general quality test , a Breast milk worms Composition analyzer to detect the content of milk including fat,protein in lactose ,solid non-fat and total solid and an Imer to test the contents c milk through chemical method. “Changing life styles and food habits can make breast milk inferior in quality ,in old days pregnant women en were adviced to take sunbath to increase the amount of vitamin D in the body.Look at the would-b mothers of today ,they are all covered up point out Dr.Shafi .
4part from analyzing breast milk the institute will alse provides counseling and psychological treatment to reduce the stress experienced by nursing mothers.
